Congratulations on your piercing!

Your new microdermal piercing has been performed in a sterile environment using high-quality, sterile equipment and using a disposable, single-use needle. It is now up to you to look after it to ensure it remains clean. Providing you follow our microdermal piercing aftercare guidelines you should experience little or no problems.

However, if you ever experience any issues or have any questions please feel free to return to the store to see one of our piercers.

You can download a copy of your Microdermal Aftercare Leaflet here.

Microdermal Piercing Aftercare: Cleaning & Healing Information

Your Microdermal/ Skin diver piercing will have a surgical dressing covering it. This initial dressing must remain on for the first 48 hours (if it should accidentally come off simply re-cover it with a new dressing). When the 48 hours is up you must remove the dressing (soaking the area in warm water first is advisable).

The area must now be cleaned. Use a solution of natural salt and pre-boiled water (a small pinch of salt in an egg cup is ideal). Use a cotton bud and gently clean around the area. Let the area breathe for around an hour and then cover with a new dressing. Leave the new dressing on for 24 hours, remove, clean, allow to breath and re-cover again. This process should be repeated for the next 4 days.

When the first week is up you can now remove the dressing permanently and finally show it off! However, if you ever think you may be at risk of catching the area whilst doing certain activities (work/sleeping etc.) simply cover with a dressing again. The area must still be cleaned once a day using the salt water for at least 6 weeks.

Microdermals can take 6 months to fully heal (especially internally). Do not change the head until it has fully healed. Skin divers will usually heal in 3 months. Please keep any beauty products (makeup, fake tan etc) away from the area until it has fully healed.

Both microdermals and skin divers are unfortunately quite susceptible to migration or rejection. This process is usually painless but it can leave behind a small scar. If you ever think you are experiencing this simply return to store to see a piercer and they will advise you on the best course of action.

As with any new piercing a local area of redness and a small amount of white/yellowish discharge are both healthy and completely normal.

Again, if you are ever concerned or have any questions please come back in to store for a chat. If you are unable to return to store for any reason please only consult a medical professional or visit our FAQ where we have extensive piercing information available for you to view.
