Unique Piercings: The Body Mods That’ll Help You Stand Out From the Crowd!
The world of piercings is a wide and diverse one – trust us. Though most people don’t go beyond an earlobe piercing or a nose stud, there really are an incredible amount of options out there!
So we’ve collected together some of our favourite piercings that aren’t too commonly seen. These are the piercings that we think deserve a little bit more love, because they can really look stunning! So next time you pop out for a new piercing, make sure to keep the following ones in mind…
‘Nasallang? What’s a nasallang?’ Yeah, we know, the name is a little bit intimidating, but trust when we say the actual piercing isn’t too scary. A nasallang piercing involves placing a bar straight through the nose in a horizontal direction, offering a unique effect that you can see in the photo above. Though it might be a bit heavy-going for a first piercing, we think a nasallang is a great choice for experienced body modders looking for something truly unique. We mean, nose studs are awesome and all, but the nasallang piercing really does take things to the next level!
You know what part of the body doesn’t get nearly enough love when it comes to piercings? The neck! A fairly modern piercing, the nape piercing is placed in the back of the neck, creating a cool, unique effect. If a nape piercing sounds like your sort of thing, there are a few things worth bearing in mind… Mainly that it isn’t really a good choice for those with long hair (For obvious reasons). But if you have short hair (Or don’t mind getting a hair cut!) a nape piercing is an awesome way to shake up your look!
No one can deny that this type of piercing is super trendy and hip! (*Ba-dum-tish*) In all seriousness, it’s a pretty fantastic choice for those looking for a low-key piercing with a cool appearance. As its name suggests, this type of piercing is placed near the hip bone in the pelvic area. It is normally fitted with a curved barbell. Most people choose to get a pair of hip piercings (For double the awesomeness) though singles aren’t uncommon. We don’t really understand why more people don’t get them!
Okay, so we definitely aren’t ‘anti-eyebrows’, but we can’t deny that this type of piercing is pretty cool. Taking place under the eye rather than over it (like an eyebrow piercing), the anti-eyebrow has a really trendy, untraditional look. There are a few different nicknames for this type of piercing, such as teardrop and butterfly kiss, just highlighting the possibilities when it comes to jewellery choices! (After it’s fully healed, of course.) If you’re looking for a facial piercing with a unique edge to it, this one is a great choice.
Joining the hip piercing in the ‘low-key but trendy’ club is the sternum piercing. It’s also known as the breastbone piercing and the cleavage piercing, which should give you a pretty good idea of where it goes! It definitely makes a bold fashion statement and can be a great way to shake up your evening look. Another awesome thing about this type of piercing is that you hide it pretty easily by wearing something with a high cut. No need to worry about your mum asking what that shiny thing on your chest is at Sunday lunch!
And last but not least, the rhino piercing! And no, it’s not just a stud in the shape of a rhino (Though dang that sounds awesome), but instead, a piercing that is placed at the end of your nose. You know, like a rhino’s horn! It’s probably the most unique looking piercing on this list and though it definitely isn’t for everyone, we think it has the potential to create an incredibly cool effect! If you want to stand out from the crowd, this type of piercing is definitely worth considering!
