Shark bites piercings are a type of lip piercings with four individual labret bars in a specific location. The Shark bites piercing can be built up slowly or you can have your piercing in one sitting. Want to know more about Shark bites? Check out our FAQs for more information about the piercing procedure and aftercare.

What are Shark bites piercing?

A Shark bites piercing consists of four piercings. The Shark bites are a combination of Snake bites and Viper bites which are placed under the lower lip in two pairs, in both corners of the mouth. The Shark bites piercing gets its name because it is designed to look like external shark teeth. They are sometimes called a double lip piercing or double Snake bites.

How much do Shark bites cost?

Shark bites cost an average of £50 - £55. The Shark bites piercing cost reflects the number of piercings in this lip combo. There are four piercings placed in two sets which is why the price is higher than other types of lip piercing. You may want to spread the cost out by not having all four piercings done in one sitting. Make sure you prioritise the piercers experience over the cost of the piercing as it is essential that this piercing is placed symmetrically to achieve the overall final aesthetic of Shark bites.

How much does Shark bites piercing hurt?

Shark bite piercings hurt no more than any other lip or labret piercing however if you are getting your Shark bites in one sitting you may find it more painful because you will be getting four piercings at one time. You will find that the pain varies for each person. Most people rate Shark bites piercing pain at 4 out of 10 on the pain scale.

Is Shark bite piercing bad for my teeth?

The Shark bite piercing can be bad for your teeth if your piercing jewellery rubs against your gums. Make sure your piercing jewellery is short enough that is will not catch against the teeth and gums as this can cause the enamel to wear or the tooth to chip. Check your gums regularly for signs of redness and recession. By regularly cleaning your Shark bite piercing, using mouthwash after every meal, and wearing a flat-back labret bar you reduce the risks of your piercing ruining your teeth.

Can you get all the Shark Bites piercing at the same time?

You can get all your Shark bites piercings at the same time but if you do it may be harder to heal your lip piercings. There is likely to be substantial swelling, especially since Shark bites are placed close together in pairs. This can be very uncomfortable until the swelling goes down so some people prefer to have one piercing on each side before adding the other two piercings at a later date.

What can I eat after a Shark bites piercing?

After getting a Shark bites piercing you will need to be careful what you eat. You can eat soft cold foods which will help reduce swelling and soothe your lip. You should avoid eating spicy foods and sticky foods after getting a Shark bites piercing as these can cause the wound to re-open and can get stuck around the piercing jewellery. Make sure to take small bites while eating and take extra care when eating crunchy foods.

What can I drink after a Shark bites piercing?

After getting a Shark bites piercing you cannot drink alcohol during the healing time as this can slow down healing. If you can, drink water and suck on ice cubes to help soothe your piercing. Avoid sugary and carbonated drinks as these may irritate your piercing wound. Some people prefer not to drink hot drinks or milk after getting a lip piercing such as the Shark bites.

Shark bite piercing is still a less common form of lip piercing so if you are looking for something unusual to add to your facial piercings, this could be the one for you. Mix up your jewellery by adding Shark Bite Piercing Rings or enjoy choosing a putting together an arrangement of labret bars.
