New Bands To Watch In 2014

Welcome to this very special post all about one of our very favourite things – music! 2014 is shaping up to be another awesome year, and one good reason for that is because of all the new bands ready to rock our world. We’ve been keeping our ears close to the ground and found a bunch of new artists we think are going places.

So, lets take a listen to a sampling of these amazing bands and who knows, maybe you’ll discover something that becomes one of your all time favourites?

Fort Hope

For Fans Of: Jimmy Eat World, You Me At Six Fort Hope have risen from the ashes of band My Passion and are back stronger than ever with a whole new sound. The pop punk band have cleaned up their image and have drawn comparisons to artists like Jimmy Eat World for their anthemic choruses. They released their first single “Control” under their new moniker last year, but with some momentum under their belt from touring and a new EP called Choices available to download, the future looks bright!

George Ezra

For Fans Of: Jake Bugg, Ben Howard Guys with guitars are in good supply these days and another to step into the ring is singer songwriter George Ezra. George from Bristol has been tipped for big things this year, with many predicting the nation will fall in love with his unique vocals and powerful song lyrics. His music, like many young songwriters, is inspired by the greats such as Bob Dylan and the old blues masters, and he has a grizzly tone in his voice that belies his tender age of only 20 years old. Come this time next year, everyone will know the name of George Ezra.

The Vamps

For Fans Of: You Me At Six They’ve barely been a band for year, but The Vamps are already well on their way to stardom. The pop rock group have supported some big bands on tour and have been stealing young girls hearts with their catchy and instantly memorable music. If there’s a surefire bet for what band will make it big this year, its definitely got to be The Vamps with their sugary sweet pop that appeals to the masses.

Royal Blood

For Fans Of: Queens Of The Stone Age, Biffy Clyro Brighton’s Royal Blood are here to give British rock music a much needed kick up the arse with loud and powerful riffs no one can resist head banging to. The duo, comprising of Mike Keer and Ben Thatcher, join a long list of two person bands that don’t need any extra members to play loud music that makes you stand up and pay attention. Royal Blood have already made the prestigious BBC Sound of 2014 Shortlist, so they’re almost destined for greatness. With songs like Out Of The Black, there’s proof in the pudding and we can’t wait to hear more from them.

The Hype Theory

For Fans Of: Paramore This band from Essex are most definitely going places, and 2014 could be their year. The pop punk group have already played most of the big festivals, including Download and Sonisphere and music magazines like Kerrang! are also singing the praises of The Hype Theory.  With an awesome lead singer in the form of Katy Jackson, who’s had comparisons drawn to a certain Hayley Williams, you just know their name is going to be on the lips of millions of teenagers sooner rather than later.

So there you have it — our personal picks for which bands are going to be making waves in 2014.
