Thinking about getting a versatile and attractive pinna piercing? Read on to find out all the information you need about this popular choice of helix piercing!
pinna piercing refers to the top of the outer ear rim or you can get a forward pinna piercing, which pierces the arch where your ear rim connects your head. It is very similar to an auricle piercing but is higher up.

This type of piercing is really popular because it can be decorated with rings, hoops, bars, or cuffs, so it is one of the most versatile body mod's around.

Procedure

The pinna piercing is done on the upper part of the helix and is therefore very similar to other helix and cartilage piercings.

Your piercer may use illuminations to map out blood vessels before proceeding with the piercing. Forceps or a receiving tube may be used to help support the tissue for piercing but a freehand method is really common as well. it is usually quite a quick procedure.

Pain

As with any cartilage piercing, the pain levels will be slightly higher than a lobe piercing. However, pain is totally subjective and varies from person to person.

Healing

A pinna piercing can take anywhere between 8 and 16 weeks to heal. To make the healing process as smooth and speedy as possible, simply follow these steps:
  • Clean the area twice a day with a sea salt and water mixture
  • Avoid sleeping on the pierced area
  • Change your bed sheets and pillow cases regularly
  • Keep you hair tied back to avoid getting the piercing caught
  • Avoid playing with the piercing or applying any cosmetics to the area
