Popcorn And Glitter Interview: Films, Fashion And Food
We recently had the chance to talk to Sophie Athawes, author of Popcorn and Glitter blog. She loves film, fashion and food! We wanted to know a little more about what it is like to run a lifestyle and film blog. Be sure to check out her blog here, if you haven’t come across her before. We got the lowdown from Sophie on her life as a blogger/film enthusiast.
How would you describe your blog to someone who has never read it before?
The rantings of a tattooed lady who is obsessed with all things film, food and general adventures about London.
How did you develop your film aspect of the blog? What is your favourite genre?
I originally started the blog as a way of practicing film reviews and improving my writing. It was never really meant to lead to anything. As more people started reading it, I did it more to tell people about the films I loved and wanted to share with them. It's really tough to narrow it down as I'll pretty much watch anything but I'm a big fan of horror, psychological thrillers and your typical Oscar bait. I'm definitely a film snob.
We know Sophie loves a vintage horror film. You can check out her blog post about our Night Of The Living Dead T Shirt here!
Blue Banana Talks Fashion With Popcorn and Glitter
What influences your style?
My style can really change from one day to the next. I find a lot of inspiration in vintage pieces, high street trends and some of my favourite bloggers.
If you had to choose one item of clothing to wear forever what would it be?
That's super tricky! I guess I would have to say my vintage Gremlins t-shirt. It's over-sized so it's comfy, it's got an adorable Mogwai on it and it's a tshirt so it's practical and can be dressed up and down anyway you like.
Blue Banana Top 5
If you could choose 5 favourite items from the Blue Banana store which would they be?
Do you have any advice for people wanting to start their own blog?
I'd say go in to it and just have just fun. Find your niche and be yourself. There's so many bloggers out there now and the ones who find their own path really seem to shine. I also think it's important not to put too much pressure on yourself but make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. It's a lot of work but it's worth it for the opportunities it can bring.
We will leave you with one final question. What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t blogging?
You'll most likely to find me at the cinema or eating somewhere around London.
Don’t forget you can also check out Popcorn and Glitter on Instagram and Twitter. If you want to check out some of the items Sophie has tried and a couple of similar styles from Blue Banana, check them out here.
