There are more fantastic bands playing at Glastonbury Festival this year than it’s possible to count, so we’ve whittled our list down to the ten names that need to be on your festival playlist this year. Also be sure to take a look at our Glastonbury Festival Guide for all the prep advice you’ll need that doesn’t revolve around playlists.

So get ready to treat your ears – because here are Blue Banana’s Glastonbury 2017 Playlist essentials…

  1. Foo Fighters

It would be a crime not to start off by mentioning these guys. After Dave Grohl breaking his leg forced the band to cancel their headline Glastonbury performance in 2015, the band are finally taking up the Pyramid Stage! …And we couldn’t be more excited! The rock giants are guaranteed to play a number of classics from their eight current albums – expect the awesomeness of songs like ‘The Pretender’, ‘Learn To Fly’ and ‘Everlong’ – however the band have also hinted that they might be playing some new stuff too. Could our excitement levels be any higher?!

  1. Radiohead

We’d be lying if we said we weren’t incredibly excited for the Friday night headliner as well. Radiohead are giants of the alternative rock world, with a number of fantastic albums under their belt. Their Glastonbury performance has particularly got people hyped and for a good reason – it’s the 20th anniversary of OK Computer! With it being highly likely that the band will play a number of the album’s biggest songs, such as ‘Paranoid Android’ and ‘Karma Police’, their Glastonbury is definitely gonna be one not to miss!

  1. Biffy Clyro

Mon the Biff! Our favourite Scottish rockers are back at the festival, hot off touring last year’s Ellipsis. With so many epic tracks this band have never disappointed when it comes to live performances – just check out their Reading & Leeds Festival set from last year. We’re hoping they might throw a few surprises into their Glastonbury set, but as long as we get the classics like ‘Bubbles’ and ‘Mountains’, we’ll be more than happy!

  1. Future Islands

One of the biggest indie bands of the past few years, we’re totally digging Future Islands at Blue Banana at the moment. If you haven’t stumbled upon the band yet, we recommend you check out their 2013 hit ‘Seasons (Waiting On You)’ immediately… Frontman Sam Herring has always put on eccentric live performances in the past – featuring dad-dancing and death metal growls – and so we can’t wait to see how crazy their Glastonbury performance this year will be!

  1. The Xx

Another one of our indie favourites, The Xx are fresh off releasing their incredible third album, I See You. Their Glastonbury performance is sure to be bursting with smooth vocals and groovy bass riffs, making it a definite must-see. We can’t wait to see what this awesome band bring to the table this year.

  1. Royal Blood

Oh my God, how excited are we for the new Royal Blood album? It just seems way too far away! If lead single ‘Lights Out’ is anything to go by, the new album is sure to be incredible – as is their performance at Glastonbury 2017. We’ve always been impressed with how much noise Royal Blood has managed to make with only two members and we think their performance this year has the potential to steal the entire weekend…

  1. HAIM

Gotta love HAIM. The band have been pretty quiet since their awesome 2013, Days Are Gone, which featured instant-classics like ‘The Wire’ and ‘If I Could Change Your Mind’ – but now there’s finally a new album on the horizon! If you’re a fan of groovy 80s-tinged pop, then this’ll definitely be a performance not to miss. And if you haven’t been won over by the band yet, check out their new single ‘Right Now’ right now!

  1. Rag’n’Bone Man

No one would deny that Rag’n’Bone Man has been one of the biggest break-out stars of the year, with his incredible single ‘Human’ captivating just about everyone. As a result, we couldn’t be more excited for his first Glastonbury performance, which promises to be a real knock out. So make sure you don’t miss it!

  1. Metronomy

Another indie pop icon, we couldn’t more excited for Metronomy’s Glastonbury 2017 performance. After taking a year off from live performances last year, the band are back with what is guaranteed to be a fantastic set. Expect classics such as ‘The Look’ and ‘The Bay’ as well as recent hits from their new album, Summer 08.

  1. London Grammar

Last, but definitely not least… London Grammar! Like many of the bands on this list, they’re currently gearing up for the release of a new album so expect new songs as some from their 2013 debut… Judging by the singles they’ve released from their new album so far, we think it’s pretty impossible for this performance to disappoint; make sure you’re watching!

So there you have it – the artists that you need to give a place on your festival playlist. We’ve had to miss out some incredible bands, but we think these guys are the cream of the crop!
