Can I wear contact lenses?

Of course! As long as you don’t have any allergies or eye conditions that preclude you from wearing contact lenses, you can try out any of the styles on our website. All of our contacts come from trusted manufacturers and are created using high-quality lens materials. Your eye safety is of the utmost importance to us!

Plus, we offer plenty of different options, so that everyone can really find the best lenses for them. Before you start shopping, we recommend knowing your prescription and eye measurements. You can get these from any trusted eye-care provider, such as your optician. Browsing for the correct prescriptive strength and eye measurements will help you find a pair of lenses that fit comfortably on your eyes and give you clear vision.

You might also be wondering what the lenses look like on different coloured eyes- do we sell contact lenses for dark eyes? The answer is yes! Our lenses all differ in pigment and coverage, so it’s important that if you have dark eyes, you find a pair of high-coverage lenses that will cover your natural eye colour for a dramatic and impactful transformation. When browsing our lenses, you can click on each one to see various images depicting the lenses over different eye colours and skin tones. This will show you how visible the lenses will be over your own eyes!

How do I insert contact lenses?

For first-time lens users, the insertion and removal of contacts can be the most daunting part of the process. That’s why we’re here to help. We know that putting your lenses in can be a little scary, but we promise that it’s a lot quicker and easier than it seems, and once you’ve done it a few times, you’ll forget what all the fuss was ever about. So, here’s how it works…

  1. When you receive your lenses, you want to check the packaging and ensure that everything looks right. For instance, the box will tell you the lens measurements, prescription, duration, and lens expiry date. Do all of these sound right? Sometimes, you’ll also be able to see the lenses through the packaging, thanks to a small window. If so, try to examine the lenses before opening the box.

  2. Whether you examine them before or after opening your packaging, ensure that your lenses are clean, with no damage or debris. Whenever you handle your lenses, make sure that your hands are clean. You can also use a sterile lens tweezer for careful handling.

  3. Before you can use the lenses, they’ll need to be cleaned. Do this by rinsing them with eye-safe contact solution. Once they’re clean, pop your lenses in a sterile contact case, and leave them to soak in a small amount of fresh contact lens solution for 2 hours or more. After this, they’ll be ready to use.

  4. To insert your contacts, put a lens on your index finger, and make sure that it’s the right way up. If the lens is forming a soft U-shape, it should be right. If, instead, the lens looks more like a V, it may be inside out. Once the lens is the right way round, hold it up to your eye, and use your other hand to hold your eyelids open. Place the lens gently on your eye, and blink a few times, allowing your eye to adjust. Don’t panic if you don’t get it right away- you can always try again. If you don’t like using your fingers, try one of our silicone lens inserters.

Why is contact lens solution important?

Contact lens solution is eye-safe and antibacterial. This makes it perfect for cleaning and storing your lenses. Any other substance, even water, can be incredibly harmful to your lenses, as it can contaminate them with bacteria.

When you receive the lenses, they’ll be soaking in a blister-pack solution. However, this solution is intended to keep the lenses fresh and preserved. Because of this, it’s a little harsher than eye-safe contact solution, and will irritate your eyes. That’s why it’s important to clean your lenses and leave them to soak BEFORE you wear them. How do I remove contact lenses?

Just like inserting lenses, removing lenses can be a little bit daunting. Just as before, make sure to wash your hands, and give yourself some time to practise. Here are the steps…

  1. With clean hands, hold your eye open.

  2. Gently pinch the contact lens, pulling it out of your eye.

  3. Once removed, the contact lenses will need to be cleaned with contact lens solution again (unless they’re single-use, in which case you can throw them away). If you plan on reusing the lenses, you’ll need to store them until your next use. To do this, pop the clean lenses into a sterile contact lens case, along with some fresh contact lens solution.

Contact Lens DOs and DON’Ts:

  • DO examine your lenses before opening your packaging- this helps to ensure that any faulty lenses can be returned to us without any issues.

  • DO make sure your hands and work station are clean whenever you handle the lenses.

  • DO clean your lenses between any uses, and leave them to soak for a minimum of 2 hours before your first use.

  • DO store your lenses in a sterile contact lens case.

  • DON’T ever let a foreign substance (even water) touch the lenses.

  • DON’T wear your lenses overnight.

  • DON’T wear your lenses for any longer than 8 hours at a time, to avoid your eyes drying out.

  • DON’T wear your lenses past their expiry date, or past their intended duration (e.g, 30-day lenses should only be kept for 30 consecutive days after opening).

Troubleshooting- Blurry Vision

If you find that your vision is blurry, here are the questions you can ask to troubleshoot the problem:

  • Do the lenses feature a specific style that may be impairing my vision (e.g, mesh lenses)?

  • Are the lenses the wrong measurements/prescription for my eyes?

  • Are the lenses expired?

  • Did I forget to clean the lenses and soak them for 2 hours before my first use?

  • Is there debris or damage on the lenses?

  • Are the lenses inside out?

If the answer to all of these questions is ‘no’, and your lenses are still blurry, you can contact our customer service team. We’re always happy to help, and we take any issues with our lenses very seriously.

Troubleshooting- Discomfort

If your contact lenses are causing you pain and discomfort, we suggest removing them immediately. You can go through our troubleshooting questions above to ensure that you’ve gone through the whole process- the primary causes of uncomfortable lenses are incorrect measurements, debris on the lenses themselves, and incorrect cleaning procedures.

If, however, you have done everything right and can’t think of any reason why the lenses should be giving you discomfort, it may be that your eyes are having a reaction to a specific material in the lenses. We recommend getting in touch with a trusted eye-care provider right away.
