When can you change your piercing?

You can change your piercing whenever it’s fully healed. This can be different for different piercing types- for instance, earlobes heal within just a few weeks, while surface and body piercings can take up to 9 months. Find out more about our piercing healing times here:

How to remove your piercing at home:

  • Wash your hands, making sure that they’re clean and dry.

  • Clean the piercing area with a cotton bud and some of our Pro-Pierce Solution (below) to remove any build-up.

  • Remove the piercing gently. For threaded jewellery, you’ll need to hold onto the bar or back-post of the jewellery and unscrew the ball or front. For threadless jewellery, you’ll need to push gently, unclipping the post from its place.

  • Make sure not to pull on the piercing itself too much, and slide the piercing out.

  • Rinse the piercing with some fresh Pro-Pierce Solution, and ensure that it’s not too red or irritated.

How to insert your piercing at home:

  • Once you’ve taken your original piercing out, you’ll want to insert new piercing jewellery. This can be a little tricky if it’s your first time, but we’re here to help.

  • Ensure that the piercing area is clean and not irritated.

  • Pinch the skin gently with one hand, holding it still and taut.

  • Use your other hand to slide the bar/post into the piercing. You can massage the skin slightly to help the piercing go in smoothly.

  • Fasten the jewellery by screwing the top onto the base or by clicking the threadless post into place.

What happens if I need to get re-pierced?

If your piercing hole has closed and you want to get re-pierced, our trained piercers will be able to help you. As long as the piercing area is clear of any irritation or infection, you should be able to re-pierce it without any issues. However, please be aware that your piercers reserve the right to turn you away if they believe the area's anatomy is not suitable for re-piercing.
