As most of you will of already heard, sad news has shaken the music scene as we learn the ever-so-popular and talented Mitch Lucker of Deathcore band Suicide Silence passed away last week due to a motorcycle accident. His death came as a shock to us all, and as part of the expanding and moving music scene, it is with great sadness the heavy music industry has lost one of its most talented artists. It is reported that Lucker died as a result of injuries incurred when coming off his motorcycle at Huntington Beach, Orange County, Southern California. The crash happened on Halloween, Wednesday 31st October 2012, but unfortunately the heavy metal vocalist was pronounced deceased at 6:00am Thursday 1st November 2012. His band mates released a statement on Facebook saying: “There’s no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts. R.I.P. Mitchell Adam Lucker. We love you, brother.”
Fans Turned Out For Mitch Lucker Vigil Held At Crash Site
Mourning fans, friends and family of Mitch Lucker attended a candlelight vigil organised at the crash site in Huntington Beach just hours after his death was announced. Among the crowd were his wife, Jolie Carmadella, and his young daughter. A vigil also took place at Back to the Grind in Riverside, California, where he grew up, to remember him and celebrate his life. Although it has not yet been confirmed, it is reported Mitch had been drinking before his crash. His wife has urged people to learn from this, stating: “Just make the right choice. Don’t hurt your family. Don’t drink and drive.” Yesterday, Thursday 8th Novermber 2012, Mitch Lucker’s funeral was held and his body was laid to rest. His close friends and family turned out to pay their respects, remember his life and pay a final farewell.
Suicide Silence Bandmates’ Memorial Fund
The band, Suicide Silence, started out in 2002 and instantly made a name for themselves in the heavy music industry. Having released three studio albums, The Cleansing, No Time To Bleed and The Black Crown, SS created a sound that couldn’t be matched, which made them original to the music scene. The remaining band mates are said to have set up a memorial fund to support the singers’ family and help towards the education of his five year old daughter, Kenadee. As a much loved band by our fans and us here at Blue Banana, our deepest condolences and sympathies go out to close friends, family and band mates of Mitch Lucker at this hard time. RIP Mitch, you may be gone but your music and legacy will live on.
