Our selection of fashion lenses has been incredibly popular but we get a lot of questions asking about how to wear them/ how they feel etc. So we decided to give you all a few tips about wearing fashion lenses, to ease your worries if you’re feeling concerned and ensure that you get all the info you need for some truly amazing accessories!

Will wearing fashion lenses affect my vision?

This is our most frequently asked question regarding our fashion lenses. Our eye inserts only cover the iris of the eye, which should not affect vision at all. If you insert your contact and can’t see then you may need to gently push the lens into place over the iris.  We do have two sets of Edit eye inserts that are the “Mesh” design (available in red and white) and these are the only designs that cover the pupil, which is how we all see. For these sets, you may notice a white or red haze over everything you see but should not inhibit your vision in any other way. Everyone responds to these alternative accessories differently but there are things you can do to ensure that you can get the maximum use out of your fashion lenses.

• DON’T put makeup on first, always put your fashion lenses in before any application of cosmetics. It’s really easy for flecks of makeup to get inside the lenses as you put them in and this will result in irritation and may damage the lens. If this has happened by accident, take out your eye inserts and put them in their containers with some eye solution to see if this removes the makeup.
• DO get an Edit eye care solution set, this allows you to use your contacts over and over again. Simply put some solution in each pod and place your lenses under the liquid before sealing them. All of our fashion lenses can last for at least 3 months and some can even last for a year, so you can get much more value for money by getting a solution set!
• DO think about where you’re wearing them and pay attention to how your body reacts. In our personal experience, people react differently to fashion lenses. One of our staff members found that using a computer really irritated her after a while when wearing these eye inserts but others report no difference. Edit eye inserts are intended for wearing on a night out and are not intended for wearing for more than 12 hours at a time. If you want to wear them as an everyday gothic accessory, take notice if your eyes start to ache or itch and keep your solution set on your person so you can easily remove them. Our UV fashion lenses are far better suited to a night out clubbing, so you can really get the best from their glowing UV effects.

If you’re putting in fashion lenses for the first time, don’t do it in a rush. Every set of Edit eye inserts comes with helpful step-by-step instructions for insertion and removal and TAKE YOUR TIME! If you’ve never used these gothic accessories before, it’s important to not set yourself a deadline, start early so you don’t have to rush and make sure you get your lenses in right, also ensure that you’ve washed your hands first. Some of our fashion lenses (such as the cats eye or dragon eye details) look better a certain way up and you can move them gently once they’re in your eye (sounds mad, we know, but we’ve done it and it doesn’t hurt or damage the eye at all).
