Rewind Festival

Henley-On-Thames, England & Scone Palace, Perth, Scotland
16th August 2013

Rewind Festival History

The Rewind festival is for those lovers of 80’s music and is the best opportunity to relive the energetic glory days of the awesome 80’s era. The festival first came to life in 2009, and was adapted from successful 1980 concerts of previous years. In 2001 an 80’s revival began, which increased interest. Due to this increasing popularity, the concept of expanding these retro acts into a three day music event was developed thus resulting in Rewind festival.

The Rewind festival takes place annually and features solo artists and bands that shot to fame in the 1980’s. The concert was expanded to include comedy acts along with other various forms of entertainment. Camp grounds were placed near the event site to create a whole new festival experience. A really interesting piece of Rewind festival information is that the musical extravaganza boasts the largest selection of 80’s pop icons since Live Aid.

This year the Rewind festival will be held in two locations; Henley-on-Thames and Scone Palace in Scotland. Approximately 30,000 music fans from across the globe trek to Rewind to witness the full festival experience. The event also received a 2010 nomination for Best Medium Sized Festival at the UK Festival Awards.

Previous famous headliners include; Kim Wilde, Rick Astley, Gloria Gaynor and Sister Sledge. The initial Rewind festival took place in August 2009 and the 25 headlining acts had roughly 100 top 10 UK hits among them. The Rewind festival did attempt to expand to Australia in 2011, however they met complications, which ended in a cancellation of the event.

Rewind Festival: Stages

The Rewind festival presents a phenomenal main stage with hundreds of awesome 80’s legends performing throughout the weekend.
Main Stage: With top quality entertainment from start to finish, this stage has got it all. This year at Rewind you can expect to see some of the following acts; Kool & The Gang, Grandmaster, Rick Astley, The Bangles, Starship and much more.

A fireworks display at Rewind festival will also occur on Saturday and Sunday evenings at the conclusion of the main stage performances. Be sure to check out the festival funfair, which boasts an array of exhilarating rides for all ages. The music event is also proud to introduce The Groovy Movie Picture House, the world's first solar powered movie house and an amazing perk for this fest. The multimedia venue will feature short films, independent films, and 80’s blockbusters. For those brave Rewind festival goers, a live karaoke stage is also on the premises.

At Rewind festival, street performers and musicians will keep concert goers thoroughly entertained, and traders will provide a great deal of retail therapy. The 2013 version of the hugely popular Rewind 80’s themed Festival is taking place at two separate venues this summer and Rewind festival tickets are very hot property! With a month between the two events, you’ve got plenty of time to get to Henley-On-Thames and to Scone Palace.

Rewind festival tickets are now available for purchase and a few specific types of tickets have already sold out. So if you’re interested in attending what is possibly the greatest celebration of 1980’s music on the planet, you should act sooner rather than later.

Rewind Festival Tickets: Types

Tickets can be purchased in one of three ways; The Box Office, online or via telephone. If you live locally you can make full use of the box office and buy your Rewind festival tickets in person, for added security and comfort. Rewind Festival Tickets: Car Parking

When arriving at the site, you will first want to free yourself from the tin can you came in, so follow those signs and dump it off in the car park! Be very sure to enter the area which best applies to you; be it the all-weekend stay or the one day parking area. Parking at the Rewind festival is FREE with your Rewind festival tickets and within a short walk of all of the camping and festival facilities.

If you’re feeling weak or are just knackered and don’t fancy lugging your stuff, drop a couple of quid off to pick up a trolley. You can rent them to help with bringing your stuff in and out of the site and for a small fee, they can be a BIG help. Parking spaces will be given out on a first come first serve basis, so if you’re really late, expect to be as far away as possible – it’s just the simple price you pay! There is also a drop off and pick up point so don’t enter the car park, this drop off area will we at the Rewind festival entrance.

Rewind Festival Tickets: Site Opening Times & Camping Information

The campsite opens on 2.00pm on the Friday and the car parks will be open at 12.00pm. If you are arriving on the Friday and are expecting access to the campsite with your Rewind festival tickets you must make sure you arrive before 10.00pm. On Saturday and Sunday the car parks for day ticket holder’s opens at 11.00am and the festival site opens at 12.00pm.

The main arena will be opening at 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and the live music is expected to carry on well into the night, finishing at around 10.30pm. For those unfamiliar with the festival, a tremendous amount of food, drink, shopping, and people-watching is available before, during, and often after the two blocks of live music.

The general camping space will be divided into two areas; a family area for folks who bring along the next generation of 80’s lovers, and a general camping area. Music and noise of any kind is frowned upon after 11pm in the family area. If you’d prefer to have a more luxurious form of accommodation, then you can choose from a range of surrounding options. Below we enclose a small list of examples:
  • The Red Lion Hotel

  • The Anchor Hotel
  • Riverside
  • Azalea House
We recommend that you check out other possible accommodation options before booking your Rewind festival tickets to ensure that you get the best deal and price for you. We strongly advise booking beforehand to avoid high price rises and to ensure that you can secure a room.

Campsite Information

The Rewind festival takes you to the age of the reverberating 1980s. You get to see and experience the bands, music orchestras, fun fairs, live karaoke and so much more. The Friday night welcome party will give you the opportunity to mingle with fellow festival goers and make some new friends. This year you can choose between two beautiful venues, either the Temple Island Meadows in Henley or Scone Palace in Scotland. If you’re an absolute 80s fanatic you could even attend both!

The festival site is divided equally for the participants and the entertainers. Not a single moment that you spend here will be left without something entertaining to do. At the Rewind festival you can choose from a number of camping options and accommodation choices, so there’s guaranteed to be something to suit you. The site offers tons of facilities to make your stay even more enjoyable, such as; toilets, showers, bars, food stalls, KidZone, fun fairs, etc. The staff will be on hand 24/7 ensuring everyone is safe, so if you have any issues you can always go to them for help.

If you’re a real party goer then pitch up in the middle of the action and start making friends in the main campsite. Or, if you prefer a silent night, opt to camp in the quiet or family zone and ensure that you catch those precious Z’s. We’ve gathered all of the information you’ll need when staying at the Rewind festival at 2013.

Rewind Camping Areas

At the Temple Island Meadows event: The campsite is located next to the River Thames, giving all festival goers the perfect scenery and setting for a weekend of festival fun. You’ll be able to find and use facilities all over the campsite, such as toilets and showers that are regularly cleaned and monitored. Obviously the most common option at all festivals is standard camping in the main site with hundreds of other nutty festival attendees. For what can only be described as one massive weekend bender, this is the place to be.

Alternatively, if you prefer luxury and comfort, and you’ve actually got the cash to splash then you could choose one of the ‘Glamping’ options. Tangerine Fields is an area where you book a pre-pitched tent, ready for your arrival. For the ultimate luxury, check out the Cloudhouses, Yurts and Squrts, each becoming your miniature home for the weekend. The Rewind festival campsite also has a designated family field, specifically for those with small children who’ll need their beauty sleep.

At the Scone Palace event:
The campsite at Scone Palace offers all of the same things that the Temple Island Meadows site has, but obviously differs in location. As it is set in Scotland, the Scone Palace festival campsite is set in the beautiful and spacious location of Scone Palace grounds.
Glamping:
  • Cloud Houses, Yurts and Squirts: All of these luxury accommodations are complete with furnished insides which include rugs, cushions, a table, light and beds allowing you to make the most out of your stay.

  • Hotel Bell Tents: The bell tents feature inflatable mattresses, rugs, door mats, a light, tables, and 100% Egyptian cotton bed covers and towels. This means that you can stay in the festival area but with luxury of comfort and relaxation.
Of course Rewind festival also offers the Tangerine Felds, as mentioned earlier. This will allow you to experience the best out of your stay at Rewind and without any hassle.

Rewind Festival Arenas

The main arena consists of tons of wonderful facilities that help to make the Rewind festival as brilliant as it is. With a huge main stage presenting banging entertainment from start to finish, what more do you actually want? Well, the Rewind festival has done its best year after year with such an awesome selection of facilities and activities for you to make use of.

Inside the festival arena you’ll find; The Silent Disco, Live Karaoke, Street Entertainers, Trade Village, Theme Bars, Groovy Movie Picture House, Funfair, Kids Zone, Restaurants and other food outlets. Not to mention the events that will be taking place like, The Big Sing, which is the world’s biggest 80’s sing along session! Fireworks displays will also occur after the last acts have played on the main stage and will light up the sky to celebrate another awesome day.

Rewind Festival Facilities

The Rewind festival knows how to cater for all ages and never fails to impress festival goers with the impressive range of facilities. If you love Rewind as much as Rewind loves you, please respect the facilities as if they were your own. With so much to do all over the festival site, you’re guaranteed to have the weekend of a lifetime.

Toilets

Toilets can be found all over the campsite and festival site, and they are all kept in a good sanitary condition. Please respect the loos as if they were your own, as they are regularly monitored and by keeping them clean you’ll make life much easier for the staff.

Showers
The same applies for showers. You’ll be able to find them all over the campsite and they will also be kept in a good condition. Staff will be checking the facilities so please keep them clean and behave when using them. We’d hate for you to lose the euphoric privilege of having a wash in the middle of your festival (they feel like heaven!).

Parking
The campsite is a 5 minute walk from the car park area, so the distance from your pitch to your car isn’t that far. You are not allowed to park by your tent and if you are bringing a vehicle to the festival, please make sure you park it in the correct area. Simply follow the signs and find yourself a space. Parking at the Rewind festival is free; all you have to do is collect a car park pass.

Disabled Facilities
There is a designated parking area for those with disabilities and valid blue badge holders, which is much closer to the entrance of the arena. Toilets, viewing platforms and other facilities will be provided and stewards are on hand 24/7 for your assistance.

Moorings
This is a premium facility available on the Thames this year. Moorings are available for the weekends and have to be pre booked. Day moorings are located downriver from Temple Island on the 'Barn Bar' side of the site. Premium moorings offer more facilities and come at higher prices.
