Leeds Festival

Bramham Park, Leeds
22nd August 2014

Festival Information
The Leeds festival started out in 1999 after the organisers of Reading festival needed more space for the ever expanding music event. First being held in Temple Newsam, the festival has since changed sites to Bramham Park, where there is additional room to accommodate extra revellers as the event became more popular over the years.

The line up is switched in accordance to the bands playing the opening for Leeds festival will play the closing to Reading, keeping the same band line up but swapping it between the three days (see the line up for more details). First starting out with rock and metal bands, the bill of acts has changed to portray a more indie line up for Leeds festival over the past years.

The Changed Face of Leeds Festival

Although Leeds festival has been a clear success, the Bramham Park site was once riddled with violence. This affected the festival altogether and struggled to save its licence in order to keep the event running. However, since these problems in Leeds, security has been doubled for both sites and has had a positive effect, with crime being dramatically reduced. After calming down, the Leeds festival has grown in numbers and added TV screens to cater to large crowds.

Since 1999 the Leeds festival has changed and grown since its very first instalment into one of the most popular music events in the UK. Every year the line up offers a bill of bands and acts that are fresh, new and world-renowned. Previous years have seen Paramore, Billy Talent, Blink 182, Green Day, Eminem, Blur, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Fall Out Boy and many more bands grace the Leeds main stage. This year is set to be huge for bands, with appearances from Foo Fighters, Bombay Bicycle Club, Paramore, Bullet For My Valentine and even You Me At Six, so nobody wants to miss out on Leeds festival 2014.

As of 2012, the organiser of Leeds festival wanted to create a way to provide weekend ticket holders with a free burger and beer, or soft drink, every day of the festival. Not sure how to do this and having to try and find a sponsor, Melvin Benn, the organiser, said he would pay for this himself. He felt as though weekend ticket holders deserved a free burger and drink as a payment for purchasing the ticket within the harsh economic climate.

It works by giving the ticket holders three vouchers, which will be sent out with the passes, and one can be used for each day of the event (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Although a free burger was the original idea, it has since changed to a free breakfast bap which can be claimed between 7am and 12pm (noon). Your free breakfast bap can be obtained from any ‘Food for Campers’ traders around the site. Not bad eh? For all you hungover and gnarly weekend festival goers, this is the perfect set up.

Festival Information

Ticket Prices

Like Reading festival, there are weekend Leeds festival tickets with camping available as well as single day tickets. The weekend festival tickets will cost around £210.50 and the day tickets will cost £97. Although children aged twelve and under are allowed in for free, it is not recommended to bring them as the festival isn’t designed for children and there are no kid’s areas available anywhere on site.

It is advised that you only buy your tickets from authorised Leeds festival tickets websites as any other sites could result in you losing your money and your hopes of seeing some of the best acts in the entire world. The best, and probably cheapest way of buying a festival ticket, is to get a weekend ticket with camping and travel package from See tickets. Below is a list of ten AUTHORISED sites to purchase Reading and Leeds festival tickets.
  • Gigantic
  • HMV
  • Last Minute
  • National Express
  • NME
  • See Tickets
  • Stargreen
  • Ticketline
  • Ticketmaster
  • Ticket Queen
There is also an opportunity to buy Leeds festival tickets in person from selected stores. Please be careful when you are searching for passes for Leeds, there are many sites out there that will take advantage of people keen to get their hands on a ticket, so don’t become a victim of ticket fraud and only buy from the sites above.

Leeds festival 2014 cannot take any responsibility for you entering unauthorised sites. Leeds festival tickets are usually sent between 7 and 10 working days before the festival is due to open. If you don’t receive your tickets in this time span, it is worth contacting the company you bought your ticket from.

Leeds Festival Tickets: Car Parking

If you’re driving to Leeds festival 2014, the car parking comes in the price of Leeds festival tickets, so you won’t have to pay extra fees for keeping your car in a secure place! Car parks will open at the same time as the campsites. You can leave and return as much as you like over the course of the weekend but do not expect to get the same parking spot as before; you will have to go to a different spot. When you arrive to the festival, staff will guide and direct you where best to park.

Leeds Festival Tickets and Opening Times

The Leeds festival site will be open for early bird Leeds festival tickets holders, who like to beat the rush, on Friday 23rd August to allow people to get a good camping spot for the whole weekend. For general ticket holders, the site will open at 3am on Saturday 24th August, so make sure you get there as early as possible to beat the hordes of people. A day ticket holder can only enter the site on the day their ticket states, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The arena will be open from 5pm on Thursday, 11am for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Leeds Festival Tickets: Camping and Accommodation

If you’re choosing to stay in a campervan or a caravan, then you will need to purchase a ticket in advance, which will be £60 or when you get to the festival you can expect to pay more for Leeds festival tickets for your van. If you do wish to sleep in your campervan or caravan, it is important that you buy a supplement ticket to ensure you get a spot to sleep in the campervan site. It is NOT acceptable for vehicles to enter the standard camping sites.

Campsite Information

If you’re worried about you all fitting into the Leeds festival camping site then there’s no need as there are seven different colours available; you will all get a designated spot. Getting to the festival early is probably your best bet for getting the top pitch in the field you’ve been planning to camp in for months with your mates.

If you want to be among the action then the yellow Leeds festival camping zone is the area for you, or if you like your peace when you sleep, the green or brown fields are perfect for your needs. In every campsite you will come across facilities such as toilets, food stalls, drinking water points and help zones.

Laid out a little differently compared to Reading, Leeds festival camping site has its very own unique design. Whether you’re after boutique camping or don’t mind kipping in your own tent for the weekend, Leeds festival has all the ingredients for a top music event experience. Of course, there will be rules and regulations for the campsites, but just like any other camping trip, it’s best to follow the rules and have a load of fun. So, for memories that will last you a life time, the Leeds festival camping area awaits your arrival.

Leeds Festival Camping: Arenas

Where you will find the main stage, the main arena is packed with the major acts and bands across the music scene at this moment in time. Where the most fun is to be had, the main arena is close to the Leeds festival camping sites and features the classic fun fair and the five music stages.
With tons of facilities ranging from fresh drinking water points to band merchandise stalls, this arena will keep you more than entertained for the duration of the festival. Grab a beer, enjoy the sun and reminisce with your mates about the day you’ve had at the Leeds festival camping site. If you have any issues there is always an information point waiting to help you. What more could you want from a festival? So be a part of the greatest music, munch on the poshest nosh and create lasting memories at this year’s Leeds festival.

Leeds Festival Camping: Facilities

Just like Reading festival, Leeds have facilities of their own to ensure you have the most comfortable and secure stay while in the Leeds festival camping areas. With facilities for both the festival site and the campsites, our information will cover any issues or concerns you have regarding where you can find toilets to getting help when you need it. With water points so you won’t dehydrate and showers so you don’t turn into some kind of festival waste creature, Leeds festival is the ultimate music event of 2014.

When spending an entire weekend at a festival, there isn’t much in terms of choice when it comes to toilets. In Leeds festival camping areas there is the option of the long drop, the urinals and also flushing toilets. Once ranked the worst festival toilets, Leeds dramatically cleaned up and promised they would look after their loos a lot more, and we can vouch for that. Although the festival toilets aren’t very pleasant and literally a world away from home, it’s better than no loo right? The top tip is: take lots of toilet roll, and we’re taking LOTS.

Feeling dirty after the long travel and setting up your tent? Well you are bound to get covered in mud at the Leeds festival camping sites, so take a trip down to the village showers. Open from Wednesday through to Sunday, the showers are FREE for all festival-goers. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, the SEAT Human Carwash could be just the thing for you. Guaranteed to get you the cleanest you’ve been since you arrived to the festival, the SEAT Soapers will scrub you up and rinse you down. Get fresh and stay clean during Leeds festival.

All around the Leeds festival camping site you will come across water points fit for your plastic bottle. What’s the point in spending a fortune on something as necessary as water? Just get it for free every time your supply is running low at one of the water points signposted within the main arena and around the campsites. Visit one any time of day, whenever you need to rehydrate your dry mouth. Free and simple to use, forget the overpriced food stalls and take your own plastic refillable bottle.

When you’re walking through the festival, you will catch the fresh smells of beef burgers and vegetarian options. With stands for every requirement and taste bud desires, Leeds festival camping site caters for all tastes. From cold alternatives to hot meals, chicken to pasta, Leeds festival will certainly be cooking up a selection for you.

Bearing in mind each stall comes with different price tags, you have to be prepared to splash out on the finer things or keep hold of your money and opt for cheaper meals. Wherever you decide to eat, whether you have a favourite or you feel like going all out there and trying foods you wouldn’t attempt at home, the Leeds festival camping experience is the perfect opportunity for you to be daring.

Spread across the entire festival site, you will discover bar after bar. For 18 year olds and above only, you can escape the teenage maniacs and have the benefit of some peace with a brew in your hand. At night you can get the party started with all of your friends at the bar, you can drink until the sun comes up and you realise you have another hard days partying left to be getting on with. No festival would be complete without a few beers and partying well into the night. Let your inhibitions go and join in the fun at Leeds festival camping site.

For this year’s Leeds festival, there will be around thirty ATM machines in total, so the thousands of people on the Leeds festival camping site can grab their cash whenever they need it. With the majority based in the village, these are open 24 hours each day, but will charge £2.50 for every transaction. What’s more is that there will be a number of cashpoints in the main arena too, so trust us when we say, you will never have to live without cash. The best advice to give you whenever you withdraw money is to hide half of it somewhere safe, so in case you lose the half on you, you still have a secret stash tucked away for emergencies such as theft or loss.

Once again for 2014, lockers will be available to those quick enough to book one online (visit the official Leeds festival). Subject to availability, you can keep personal items such as your mobile phone, iPod and even credit card safe. Perfect for you who misplace or forget where you put your important objects, the lockers are the ultimate answer. Best of all, you will get a souvenir padlock to remind you of your time at Leeds festival. So stay safe and sensible this year at Leeds 2014 festival.
