Men's Hip Hop Sweatpants

The collection of hip hop sweatpants came into fashion after baggy trousers were first seen on West Coast surfers in the 1960s. The range of urban dance pants came into fashion towards the end of the 90s, and play a huge part in hip hop clothing and fashion. Hip hop jeans heavily influenced the way dancers dress today, and the baggy style encouraged them to make something similar, however with more freedom to perform dance moves and be comfortable whilst training and performing. There are many brands that manufacture a collection of dance clothing to date, and with the range forever growing we understand sometimes keeping up can be difficult. With our collection of hip hop sweatpants and freestyle clothing here at Blue Banana you can be sure to keep up with the latest hip hop fashion trends.

Baggy trousers originated from the ghetto when African Americans wore hand me downs from older siblings. To this day hand me downs of hip hop sweatpants are a symbol of toughness of an older brother or sister. Not only is this style of clothing popular on the hip hop scene, but during the 90s and into 2000, skaters, grungers and hardcore punks liked to fashion this style. Urban dance pants are still extremely popular today, and you can find almost anything you like. When hip hop took off, celebrities were seen in brightly coloured tracksuits, so this was a trend for some time; however over the years grey and black freestyle sweatpants have become a lot more popular. Hip hop sweatpants are worn almost anywhere you go and worn by many artists in the hip hop music industry. Some of these include:
  • Snoop Dogg – Famous rapper from the West Coast, Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr, or Snoop Dog, started his music career in 1992 after spending six months in prison for possession of drugs. Discovered by Dr Dre, Snoop Doggy Dog has now released a huge number of singles and albums, and influenced the way hip hop dancers dress all over the world.
  • Lil Kim – After spending most of her time on the streets as a teenager, Lil Kim was discovered in 1994 and became a member in the group Junior M.A.F.I.A. For over 15 years, she has been influencing the way woman dress and was one of the best female hip hop artists on the music scene for a number of years.
  • Nicki Minaj - Onika Tanya Maraj, more commonly known as Nicki Minaj, has influenced the music and hip hop clothing scene massively since becoming a rapper in 2002. She is one of the most well known artists on the hip hop scene and the way she dresses is simply unique.
Although most of the hip hop sweatpants on the market are not influenced by singers and rappers, many of the brands take inspiration to create something unique for you to show off. Looking great whilst dancing is important, and with the diverse collection of urban dance pants that we supply here at Blue Banana, we are sure to keep you up with the latest freestyle clothing on the scene.
