Disco Rollerskates

The craze of disco roller skates is one that we all remember; when we were kids we would head out with our parents in some funky blades that you would skate around for hours in. Usually styled with bright colours and unique patterns, these retro roller skates have now even made an impact on the fashion scene.  Still a huge rage in the U.S, roller blades are a big part of fitness and fashion.  Now in the UK blades are more for the fashion side of things unless you’re a child. They are worn in many famous shoots and are brilliantly fashioned with quirky outfits. However we still have roller discos in England which are very popular. The craze of disco roller skates is a big one, so big that people are still fashioning them today. There are many styles of blades available today including:
  • Inline Skates: In these skates the wheels are in a straight line down the middle of the bottom of the skate.
  • Quad Skates: Theses blades have four wheels that are set out in a square shape.
  • Speed Skates: These skates are created with thinner blades to allow faster movement.
  • Disco Skates:The disco skates are like normal roller blades but are designed with funky colours and patterns.

The idea of disco roller skates is to give you that funky look whilst skating around the rink. With retro roller skates you can easily bring a unique twist to your look whilst hanging out with your friends. A style that will never grow old, the disco fashion is one we all love.  Such a popular style, these blades are still supplied by some of the best brands available today. No matter how stylish and modernised disco rollers skates are, this type of footwear was introduced long before now.

The first prototype before we got disco roller skates wasn’t very advanced but was released in the 1760s. The first type of skates wasn’t very popular but another attempt was made in 1863; these skates were easier to use and slowly led to the invention of retro roller skates. Blades are now used in sports and were first seen in the Olympics in 1992. Not only a style but also a serious sport, rollerblading has become a very competitive way of playing hockey as well as other sports. Used for sport and other areas, the disco rollers skates are still the most popular types available today.
