Kim Saigh - Tattoo Artist

From an early age Kim Saigh’s tattoo career was written in the stars; since the age of 16 she knew that she wanted to be a tattoo artist and collaborating with Sullen Clothing has been a major feature of her career so far.  With two decades of experience in the tattoo industry, she is one of the most prominent artists on the American scene and has worked with such talents as Guy Aitchison and Shawn Barber.  Kim’s career has seen her move from the windy city of Chicago to the sunny climes of Los Angeles, and wherever she has gone she’s taken her unique form of artistry with her.  It is the tattoo skills of Kim Saigh that have seen her become part of the Sullen Art Collective.

Like many tattoo artists, Kim Saigh’s love of tattoos began when she got her first body art at the age of 16.  Ever since she has had lofty ambitions of reaching the top, and her career began with an apprenticeship at 18.  Based on her artistic drawing she had done for a friend’s tattoo, a top artist gave her a chance – little did they know that she would be working with Sullen Clothing in the future.  1994 was a significant year in the life and career of Kim Saigh as it gave her the opportunity to move to Chicago and work alongside the legendary Guy Aitchison at Guilty & Innocent Productions.  This gave her the platform she needed to open her own tattoo studio, Cherry Bomb Tattoo, and eventually gain a place on popular TV show LA Ink.  Appearing on the show for three seasons, Kim Saigh gained a reputation across the United States.

By her own admission, joining LA Ink was a great move for Kim Saigh but her relationship with Sullen Clothing has gained her just as much recognition.  Producing high quality designs that can be seen on t shirts and hoodies, she has developed her own style and designs over the years.  After leaving High Voltage Tattoo Studios she decided to open up her own studio in LA, working closely with Shawn Barber.  Memoir tattoo studio is now her main focus but Sullen Clothing and Kim Saigh’s tattoo work are still closely linked and regularly appear on their apparel.
