The Flip Flops and Fangs brand is a bright and cheerful one that has brought a new meaning to bubblegum t shirts and bright, colourful clothes. While being high quality and comfortable to wear, Flip Flops and Fangs clothing is about much more than that. They are a fairly new start up but are focused on providing fun fashion that is made from as many fair trade materials as possible. This is a commendable stance in today’s fashion industry and economic climate, especially for a relatively new company such as FF&F. Founded in 2010, Flip Flops and Fangs have a certain pedigree behind them as they were founded by Luke McGibney, original creator of the famous Turds brand.
Owned by parent company Fresh Cargo, Flip Flops and Fangs are overseen by Rebecca Gray and McGibney who provide a wealth of experience for the brand. The combined industry experience of Gray and the comedic background of McGibney has helped the brand grow over the past few years, leading to releases of numerous funny t shirts, hoodies, vests, bags and accessories. Of course all of this is made using fair trade materials and methods – the company has a studio team in Turkey that works to produce all of their apparel. All of this helps Flip Flops and Fangs to stick to their philosophy: "Make fashion fun, make fashion fair.”
As well as going along the fair trade route, Flip Flops and Fangs also invest back into worthy causes and support those abroad and in the UK. This helps smaller companies to get a foothold and hopefully one day be as successful as Flip Flops and Fangs clothing has been. What really sets this company apart though is the comedy brilliance that appears on all of their clothes and accessories. Using cartoon-style characters and images, each brightly coloured t shirt or hoodie features some form of comedy statement or design that is designed to look good and grab attention for the user. The majority of their apparel is made from the finest materials, such as fair trade cotton, so that the customer is in no doubt they are wearing Flip Flops and Fangs when they have it on.
