Death Kitty
Punk favourite Death Kitty is a brand that has been around for years, bringing fantastic alternative, gothic and punk clothing to those who are crying out for something different. Providing clothes for those girls who have got a bit of the rock chick about them, this company don't try and cater for mainstream fashion followers. Instead they produce what they know people will want, whether it is funky skirts, colourful tees or Death Kitty hoodies. And they have been making clothing for much longer than people realise, since way back in 1995. As many small businesses do, they began in someone's back bedroom but managed to get some big name alternative retailers on board. This continued until 2002 when the Death Kitty brand that we know today was formed, truly focusing in on the punk scene.
Since 2002 the success of Death Kitty has continued to rise, with their own boutique store in London and being featured in The Observer. This had led to great success around Europe, particularly in the UK where a lot of their punk clothes are still made. There are numerous stockists around the country, in European countries and even as far afield as Australia so, wherever you go, you're sure to see some Death Kitty clothing. The majority of their apparel sticks to the punk and gothic style but there are some understated designs too, with their range including:
-
Hoodies
-
Dresses
-
Knitwear
-
Bags
-
Accessories
-
Skirts
-
Leggings
There are two things to be sure of when it comes to Death Kitty, they will always produce clothes for punk individuals and they are proud to be British. It is these two facts that inspire the brand and the apparel they produce, always allowing individuals to dress how they want to, not how they're told they should. On their website they have a quote from Florynce Kennedy, an American lawyer and civil rights activist, that says "I approve of anyone wearing what the establishment says you must not wear, and this sentence sums up the brand perfectly. If you want to stand out in a crowd and be comfortable in what you're wearing, Death Kitty will provide clothing for you.
With 80% of Death Kitty clothing being produced within the UK, this is a brand that has built itself on individual style and design. Their unique approach has remained unchanged for over a decade and their clothing is still and cool and cutting edge now as it was when they first started selling in gothic boutiques. With their iconic cat skull and cross bones logo, Death Kitty also produces extreme fashion for the masses, always promoting anarchy and being an individual. Continuing their kitty-cat theme, many of their hoodies also come with a signature cat ear design, further setting apart this great looking brand and their unique punk and gothic approach.
