About Converse Shoes:
The name Converse shoes is one of the most recognisable in the world, with millions of people wearing a whole range of their trainers.  They have created styles of footwear that have been popular for over a century and are still popular and relevant today. Their shoes are worn all around the world by sportsmen and celebrities because of how comfortable they are and how stylish they are. All of their Converse men’s shoes are made from some of the most comfortable materials available to them which is why they are as successful as they are. The designs that Converse shoes use are one of the most recognisable around the world today and many other manufacturers have taken inspiration from their designs.

Many Converse shoes come from the inspiration of Charles H "Chuck” Taylor, a basketball player who was given a job as a Converse designer, salesman and ambassador after he complained about their shoes giving him sore feet. After he helped out with the reinvention of their sportswear, he promoted Converse shoes all over America. He worked extremely hard for the company until his death in 1969.  Right up to the present day, Chucks are still being made and designed and their popularity has never waned.

Having started in 1908, Converse shoes have gained a vast knowledge of the footwear industry because of how long they have been around and how many trends they have seen and set. Since the company was founded by Marquis Mills Converse there have been a number of problems along the way, including a loss of money. Due to this they had to file for bankruptcy which led to a number of partners in the business, resulting in them going from the 16th largest footwear company to the 7th. The new partners that turned Converse shoes around are:
  • Jack Boys
  • Jim Stroesser
  • Lisa Kempa
  • David Maddocks
Due to Converse shoes being made with rubber soles, they were asked by the American government to provide shoes to the army and ever since their success has continuously risen. However, during the 1970s their success began to fade due to a number of competitors appearing on the scene, including Nike and Adidas. As many of the other shoe manufacturing companies had started to make appearances into the basketball scene, Converse lost their place as the official shoe of the National Basketball Association. As the competitors grew and grew they started to lose a lot of their loyal customers to competitors but gradually built the company back up again to the successful business they have today. As the popularity of Converse shoes has continuously grown over the years, it definitely has a bright future to look forward to.
