Sophie Lancaster Foundation
In 2007 the Sophie Lancaster Foundation was set up in response to the horrific death of the young girl from whom they take their name. Walking home through a park, Sophie and her partner were attacked viciously by a gang and she was to eventually die of her injuries. Her mother, Sylvia Lancaster, began the Sophie charity campaign, who refer to themselves as S.O.P.H.I.E or Stamp Out Prejudice Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere, their main cause and goal.

Blue Banana supports the Sophie Lancaster Foundation and believes this to be an incredible cause that should be known by all those who visit our site. We are dedicated to supporting the charity in the following ways:
The extent of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation cannot be summarised easily. Working with local and national government to adjust the definition of a hate crime has already produced a far greater awareness for the difficulties that young people in sub cultures face every day. With their aim to stamp out prejudice, the Sophie charity has created kits to give to schools and offered training into their use. This enables teachers to allow young people to recognise and evaluate their assumptions about others based on their dress. The Sophie Lancaster Foundation has already ensured that Sophie’s name will always be remembered amongst those who share her lifestyle choice and is still offering continuous support for those who wish to be different.
