Living Dead Dolls Series
The extensive Living Dead Dolls series has been ever growing for over a decade now, with a grand total of 22 series in their collection and counting! Ed Long and Damien Glonek originally started out with a small selection of limited handmade dolls in 1998, before joining forces with Mezco Toyz and manufacturing their dolls commercially in 2001. Although handmades are still made occasionally, they are incredibly rare and are highly expensive. Each of the series consists of an average of between 5 and 7 dolls, and some even have particular themes and influences. The Living Dead Dolls series with specific inspirations include;
As if this wasn’t enough the Living Dead Dolls series have expanded into other areas of doll types. They provide a range called ‘Fashion Victims’ which consists of dolls that are 33cm tall and made of soft vinyl, framed over a wire base and all equipped with a second outfit. Among others they also created the Living Dead Dollies selection, which was based on all of the main series models. As a company they are continuing to grow, even after ten successful years, and we’re sure the Living Dead Dolls series will continue to expand for years to come.
- Series 1: Largely based on the original handmade dolls.
- Series 2: Features the ‘Lizzie Borden’ doll, based on the real person.
- Series 5: Features the ‘Dahlia’ doll, based on Elizabeth Short, the Black Dahlia victim.
- Series 7: Inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins
- Series 9: First and only all female set, as well as the first series with a body articulation system (such as; ball and socket joints).
- Series 10: Features red letters on the coffins to celebrate the tenth anniversary.
- Series 13: Inspired by superstitions.
- Series 15: Features the ‘Bathory’ doll, based on Countess Elizabeth Bathory.
- Series 17: Based on urban legends.
- Series 16 and 18: Both based on Halloween trick or treaters.
- Series 19 and 22: Set 19 is based on Vampires and series 22 is inspired by Zombies.
- Series 21: Titled ‘Thing with Wings’ where each doll contains wings, for example; an angel of death, fairy, angel, pixie and a demon.
